Bloomberg News veteran Jason Gale used his lecture at the Asian College of Journalism to share what he learned from his decades-long career of covering global health issues.
From what determines the price of a drug to the steps involved in the discovery of a cure, Gale took the class through all the things aspiring pharma and health reporters should pay attention to.
Gale narrated his experience of reporting from Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi, and highlighted the challenges faced by India’s healthcare system. He talked about the legacy problems of poverty and poor sanitation in the country.
He also highlighted how many Indian companies have been able to innovate despite the lack of resources.
Gale encouraged students to develop new ways of looking at old issues. He also told them to get out of the newsroom as often as possible in search of real stories.
