There are some of the skills that an aspiring energy reporter should possess, according to Richa Mishra, the New Delhi bureau chief of The Hindu Business Line.

Demystifying available information is the foremost responsibility of a scribe in the beat, Mishra said during her lecture at the Asian College of Journalism.

“Can the Mylappuram aunty understand what you’ve written?” she asked the Class of 2021, while quoting her mentor. 

Mishra urged students to not shy away from asking the simplest of questions and never think they know it all, especially because the sector is dynamic. 

“Be prepared to always learn,” she said.
