These were some of the themes that media practitioner and investor Parry Ravindranathan covered in his wide-ranging lecture at the Asian College of Journalism on the evolving media landscape.

The former President and Managing Director of Bloomberg International also spoke about how the days of passive consumption were slowly being replaced by active participation.

Past trends were regaining relevance, he told students via Zoom on July 22, underscoring how the medium of audio — which had long been written off — was making a comeback through podcasts and Clubhouse.

He also allayed fears about Artificial Intelligence replacing human analytical thinking.

The former Al Jazeera reporter also spoke about the wide range of opportunities that social media has thrown up for journalists, underscoring how the entire process of news distribution has been revolutionised.
