N Ram. Director of The Hindu Publishing Group, in an interaction with Sashi Kumar, Chairman, Media Development Foundation, talked about his experience being interviewed by Stephen Sackur in BBC's Hard Talk. Ram reiterated that journalism in India is under assault, and loss of liberty is a constant threat faced by the press. Indian politicians have never figured in the Hard Talk show because they largely avoid being asked tough questions, and cannot tolerate even mild criticism. Ram said it's sad the BBC is discontinuing the hugely popular show by March-end.
